Spotlight: Westridge School for Girls, Pasadena, CA
Sixth Grade Service Learning Project

In February, 2011, the 6th grade team of teachers at Westridge School for Girls contacted us for their Service Learning project. They felt it would be a great opportunity for their Westridge girls to have a personal connection to a global organization. We made a presentation in the morning and the rest of the day was spent sewing dresses for the girls of MACHAO. In addition to the dresses, Mrs. Awad, the 6th Grade Math Teacher, was able to locate t-shirts for the boys of MACHAO to accompany the dresses. At the end of the day, the students had made two dresses for each of the girls at MACHAO along with a personal card attached to each dress. Children helping children - now that's a good idea. If you would like to host a fundraising event, contact us for more information:  info@machaoorphanage.org or call 818 377 5120.
