On Monday, August 3, 2009 at sunrise, Dr. Carolyn Rowley, Founder of the Machao Orphanage Foundation would have began the “Walk Up California” campaign in an effort to raise the remaining funds to complete the new dormitory and to begin the clean water system project.
Though the new dormitory has been completed (see pages 4 and 5), unfortunately Dr. Rowley fell ill the night before the Walk Up California campaign and was hospitalized due to her sickle cell disease. As a result, The Walk Up California campaign has been temporarily postponed. Many thanks to Kathleen Helfrey for all of her hard work for the Walk Up California campaign. Monies collected so far went towards the completion of the new building. However, we still need money to begin the clean water project. See page 6 of this issue which reports on our partnership with Living Water International and Machao’s Clean Water System Project.
Email: firstname.lastname@example.org, go to our website: http://www.machaoorphanage.org or call us at 818.377.5120 to sponsor a child, become a clean water system partner, or to give to some of the other programs taking place.
During these uncertain times, we are quite appreciative to those who continue to keep us in their minds and prayers as we continue our efforts to support the children at Machao Orphanage Foundation.
